Emergency Mobile Tyre Fitting in Bovingdon

Emergency mobile tyre fitting across Bovingdon

A garage visit from Bovingdon means taking it down the hill to Hemel Hempstead or across the boundary to Chesham, and a car with a ruined tyre is not making that trip under its own power, least of all down Box Lane.

So the bay comes up to the village instead. Everything we would use in a fixed workshop is built into the van: the changer, the balancer, air, a torque wrench set to the maker's figure, lamps for the unlit lanes and a stock of car, SUV, 4x4 and van tyres. On a drive off the High Street, in a lane towards Flaunden or in the market car park at the old airfield, the wheel comes off, the failed tyre is stripped from the rim, the new one is seated and spun true, and the wheel goes back on properly tightened.

The scrap tyre goes away in the van, and you drive on from where you stopped on a balanced full size tyre rather than a temporary spare.

Once a tyre has gone, it has gone. There is no pressure to top up and nothing to nurse home on, and driving on it takes the rim with it. So the real choice is between waiting on a recovery truck and having somebody come out and fit a replacement where you are. We do the second. The van carries stock for cars, SUVs and 4x4s, one call sets it moving, whether you are stopped near Felden or miles from it, and the live ETA tells you when help actually arrives. Roadside, lay-by or a side street off Flaunden Lane, it makes no difference to us. We are out across Hertfordshire at every hour of the day and night.
