Emergency Mobile Tyre Fitting in the M25 Corridor
Emergency mobile fitting is the part that happens after the drama.
Emergency mobile tyre fitting across the M25 Corridor
On the northern arc that means J21a where the M1 crosses, J23 where the A1(M) comes in, the A1081 running north, and the towns either side of them: Borehamwood, Potters Bar and Hemel Hempstead. Cars end up in some odd places around there, and we would far rather come to the odd place than have you drive on a damaged tyre looking for a tidier one.
The one place we will not come to is the motorway itself. Not the running lanes, not the hard shoulder, and not the emergency areas on the smart sections. If the car is still on the M25 then 999 or National Highways on 0300 123 5000 comes before us, everyone gets out through the nearside doors and behind the barrier, and they decide where the car goes. Tell us where that is and we will meet it there with the tyre, our own lighting, and boards for the jack if the ground is soft.
Leave at the next exit if the car still moves safely. If it does not, ring 999, or National Highways on 0300 123 5000, before you ring us. On a smart motorway there is often no hard shoulder, only emergency areas, and only they can close a lane. Get everyone out through the nearside doors and behind the barrier, and do not sit in the car. We are not permitted to work on a live carriageway or a hard shoulder and we will not pretend otherwise. We come to you once you are at a service area, on a slip road, at the next junction, in a lay-by off the carriageway, or at home after recovery.

Local knowledge across the M25 Corridor
The northern arc leaves cars in some awkward places: verges off the A1081, slip roads at J23, car parks around Potters Bar and Borehamwood, driveways at Hemel Hempstead once recovery has finished. We will come to any of them. What we will not do is meet you on the carriageway, the hard shoulder or an emergency area, so tell us where the car is being put and we will be there with the tyre and the lighting.
Emergency Mobile Tyre Fitting call-outs we handle in the M25 Corridor
Boards under the jack at Potters Bar
Recovery had left a car half on the verge of a side road, with the nearside wheels on ground still soft after rain. We rolled it forward a length onto firmer going and put boards down before lifting anything. Ten minutes of setting up, then an ordinary fit.
Done at J21a rather than at home
A driver assumed the car had to be brought all the way back before anything could happen. Once it was off the motorway and standing safely we could fit on the spot instead, which saved a second recovery leg and had them moving again that afternoon.
The drop point agreed in advance
The recovery driver asked where to set the car down and rang us before deciding. We agreed a car park with level ground and room on the damaged side, which meant the tyre went on within minutes of the car coming off the truck.

Emergency Mobile Tyre Fitting in the M25 Corridor, FAQs
Usually. We carry boards to spread the load under the jack, and if the ground will not take it safely we will roll the car a length onto something firmer before lifting. What we will not do is lift a car on ground we do not trust. If it cannot be made safe where it stands we will say so rather than try.
That depends on exactly where it is standing and on what the police or National Highways say. If it is well clear of the running lane with room to work on the damaged side, we can fit there. If it is not, it goes on to the next exit, a lay-by or the services first. Their judgement comes before ours.
Not if it is going on a low loader, which is how most motorway recoveries are done. On a spectacle lift, or a tow with two wheels still down, it does matter and the recovery driver will tell you. If the car is being taken home anyway, fitting on the driveway is often simpler than fitting where it stopped.
Somewhere off the motorway, level, lit if there is a choice, with roughly a car's width clear beside the damaged side. A quiet car park, a residential street, a service area or a driveway all work perfectly well. Ask them to ring us before they decide and we will sort it out between us.
A locking wheel nut key that is missing, snapped or rounded off, and a car parked so tightly that the wheel cannot come off. Both are solvable, but both are much better known about before we set out. Seized nuts, and a rim damaged badly enough to need replacing, are the other two.
