There is one rule that overrides everything else here: never stop on the Hogarth Roundabout. It ties the A4 and the A316 together and feeds the flyover, the lanes weave, and a stationary car in the middle of it is in genuine danger from traffic that has nowhere to go. If a tyre lets go as you approach or while you are on it, keep the car moving until you are properly off the roundabout and onto a side road or a service road, whatever that costs the tyre. The tyre is replaceable and the situation you would otherwise be sitting in is not worth it.
The same logic applies, less urgently, to the A4 Great West Road, which runs fast along the southern edge with no comfortable stopping place. Get off it. Leave it there, get out on the pavement side, and ring us with the road and which end you are on.
