British Standard BS AU 159 splits a car tyre into a repairable zone and a no-go zone. The repairable part is the central three quarters of the tread width. Anything out towards the shoulder, where the tread starts curving over, flexes far too much for a patch to survive, and no price makes that safe.
So the first job on arrival is measurement, not guesswork. We mark the object, break the bead and look at the inside, because the entry point on the outside can be misleading. Half the information is on the liner: whether the cords are cut, and whether the tyre has been run flat.
What a proper repair is
A permanent repair is a combination unit: a plug that fills the hole and a patch that seals the liner, fitted from the inside with the tyre off the rim. What it is not is a string pushed in from the outside without removing the tyre. That is a get-you-home measure being sold as a fix.
If the damage is outside the zone, or the tyre has been driven on flat, we will say so and show you why. We carry stock, so a replacement happens on the same visit rather than becoming a second appointment.
